Sam Jago
Associate Assistant Headteacher
I originally qualified as a Secondary Geography teacher, but over twenty years ago took on a maternity cover role at what was then Rowdeford School. I have been here ever since as I thoroughly enjoy working with and supporting learners with additional needs. Over that time I have witnessed the school go through many changes and transitions to become the Silverwood School we know today. It has been a privilege to be part of that journey and to see the school and its community develop.
I completed a master’s degree exploring the impact of self-perception on progress and achievement, which has been invaluable in my role as Assessment Lead. This role has grown significantly over the years and I am passionate about using assessment to recognise and understand learner progress. I also feel strongly that celebrating our learners’ successes, however big or small, is vital in building confidence, self-esteem and motivation.
Outside of school, I enjoy walking, visiting the coast and spending time with animals. I am delighted to now be an Associate SLT Member and look forward to supporting the continued development of Silverwood School and, most importantly, celebrating the achievements of our learners.
