Silverwood's uniform policy is a guide for parents and pupils regarding appropriate school appearance, the details listed in the policy are not exhaustive, and the school remains the final go-between of any decision regarding appropriate uniform.
Silverwood School expects our uniform to be worn correctly and with pride while in school and while commuting to and from school. During periods of hot weather, school staff will identify variations to the policy which are permitted.
If you have any questions or wish to check the appropriateness of your child’s appearance, please contact Silverwood School. We understand that for some pupils with sensory sensitivities, wearing specific uniform items may be challenging. If this applies to your child, please contact the school so we can work together to agree on an appropriate alternative.
Uniform is available from, Scholars (Silverwood – Scholars) we have tried to make sure that most items which do not have a logo embroidered on can be purchased from local shops and supermarkets of your choice.

Skirts should be worn just above the knee. Skirts should not be worn
unduly short for the school environment.
If your child is active, it may be appropriate for them to wear shorts or leggings under skirts for added comfort and practicality.
Scholars stock the approved uniform; however, trousers or skirts may be purchased from other retailers.
Shoes or trainers
Black unbranded. Steel toecaps are not permitted. Crocs, sandals, and flip-flops are not appropriate for school.
Wellington boots
Pupils will go outside in the rain. They can borrow wellington boots at school, but parents are also welcome to provide a pair, which will be kept at school for the entire year.

Any style rusk sacks are permitted.
Coats
Students should bring a suitable coat that is appropriate for the weather conditions, including the temperature and the possibility of rain.
Accessories & Appearance
Piercings - Pupils will be asked to remove additional earrings.
One stud earring in each earlobe - No other form of body piercing is allowed
Clear piercings and plasters are not an appropriate substitute; nose piercings of any kind must not be worn.
All jewellery must be removed when taking part in PE.
Silverwood school cannot take responsibility for any item which is lost, damaged or stolen.
Nails - Pupils are not permitted to wear artificial nails or nail varnish.
Make up and cosmetics - No makeup is permitted.
Hairstyles - Should be appropriate, neat and tidy and be of a natural colour.

Second-hand Uniform
Silverwood School has teamed up with Chippenham Uniform Exchange to make second-hand school uniform more accessible to all families.
Second-hand uniform can be obtained from Chippenham Uniform Exchange at any time.
They run pop-up shops at various locations throughout the year or uniform can be requested directly by email for collection from school.
All items of uniform are offered for FREE for a voluntary donation to Chippenham Uniform Exchange if this is affordable.
