My professional journey began in psychology 22 years ago, and I quickly became passionate about understanding autism and the experiences of autistic people. Prior to Silverwood, my roles included placing SEND learners for Bristol Local Authority and leading bespoke care provision for autistic adults with complex needs in the West Midlands. These roles gave me the opportunity to experience significant developments in legislation and best practice.

As Social Communication Pathway Lead and a teacher at Silverwood, I oversee provision for many of our incredible learners with the most significant needs. I am highly ambitious that our curriculum should provide the very best preparation for adulthood, giving learners the foundations for a happy, fulfilling and safe life beyond school.

I am also fortunate to be part of the Silverwood Consultancy Team, contributing to our wider commitment to the SEND population across Wiltshire. Through training, support and guidance for other schools, I promote the continued development of inclusive practice.

I am driven to promote awareness and understanding of our learners’ needs from their unique perspectives, particularly the impact of nervous-system regulation and sensory-processing profiles. I feel privileged to be part of the SLT and to share this passion across the school.

Beyond school, I live with my husband, our wonderful daughter and several animals! We enjoy reading, connecting with nature, philosophy and anything science-related.
