On behalf of the children, staff and Governors, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Silverwood School. We are a happy, thriving, and successful community where every child and young person’s uniqueness is recognised.
Silverwood is a co-educational special school for children and young people aged 4 to 19 years. We formed in September of 2020 with campuses in Rowde, Trowbridge and Chippenham: former schools of Rowdeford, Larkrise and St Nicholas.
Children and young people join us with a wide range of different needs and bring a wonderful mix of interests and personalities. We aim to provide an inclusive and supportive learning environment which allows everyone to achieve their best, with high self-esteem, and with mutual respect for others in the community. We want our pupils to take their place in society with confidence and pride.
Our fundamental aim that all our pupils reach their potential. Learning is at the centre of everything we do, both in and out of the classroom and with the many opportunities at Silverwood, we are enormously proud of the achievement of all children and young people. Silverwood is staffed by a highly creative and dedicated team of teachers, teaching assistants and therapists who are skilled in ensuring our curriculum is relevant, exciting, and innovative. We aim to support each pupil in their development by planning highly individual programmes of education, precisely tailored to their individual need, learning style and interest.
We are fully invested in the delivery of a system of excellence across the county and have an ambitious vision to create a truly integrated and inclusive system of outstanding education for all children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Wiltshire.
There is extensive new building work planned for Silverwood School due for completion Autumn 2023. Wiltshire Council have invested £38 million into a new build at the Rowde Campus, to create a state-of-the-art centre for SEND education, health, care, and training across 4-19, with a predominant focus on children with complex SEND.
I hope that our website captures the spirit of Silverwood and provides you with an insight into our school; we warmly encourage families and professionals to visit. We look forward to welcoming you to meet some of our children and staff and to experience, for yourself, the quality of education given to all our children and young people.
