Silverwood School is a member of Challenge Partners who are an education charity, led by practitioners, through which schools collaborate to improve each other and the education system as a whole, so all children benefit. “Our philosophy of collaboration, accountability, openness and trust guides everything we do.” Dame Sue John, Executive Director, Challenge Partners. Earlier this month we had our annual Quality Assurance Review. This is a three-day rigorous peer evaluation of teaching and learning, curriculum and outcomes, and leadership at all levels. Led by an expert lead reviewer, reviews are conducted by a team of head teachers and senior leaders from schools within the Challenge Partners network. We thought you would be interested in seeing our report summary from Challenge Partners show the progress we continue to make. Please note this does not to make. However, whilst the report is not equivalent to Ofsted it does provide and independent external view point which helps up to continue our development. Please see the Report from Challenge Partners below... ![]()

Wiltshire Council leaders discussed proposals to invest in our Chippenham and Trowbridge campuses at a cabinet meeting on 13 December. The minutes of the cabinet meeting have been published and are available here. In summary, the proposals are to retain both Silverwood Chippenham and Silverwood Trowbridge campuses, with a substantial investment from Wiltshire Council to modernise and enhance the school campus sites. There are no proposed changes to the existing provision based at Chippenham 6th Form College. The proposals include removing some of the ‘mobile’ structures at Trowbridge, opening up and improving the outdoor learning space and upgrading many of the classrooms and facilities. The proposals also include the change of use of Chippenham and Trowbridge sites from all through provision to primary school age only which would reduce the number of pupils at Chippenham and Trowbridge. As part of this proposal, Silverwood Rowde would become the sole campus for secondary age pupils. Wiltshire Council and Silverwood School are now starting the formal consultation process on the proposals. The consultation period will run from Monday 30 January 2023 until Sunday 5 March 2023. Please see the Silverwood Chippenham and Trowbridge Statutory Notice and Silverwood Chippenham and Trowbridge Proposal on this page, under Documents. We encourage you to take a look at the proposal and consider your feedback on the plans. There is an online survey which may help you with providing your feedback; a copy of the survey is also included in the proposal document. If you would prefer to write to us with your feedback, you may do so my emailing SilverwoodConsultation@wiltshire.gov.uk Your feedback is important in shaping our plans and Wiltshire Council will consider all feedback before they make a final decision on the proposal. Wiltshire Council and Silverwood School are planning a number of consultation meetings so that you have an opportunity to ask any questions or discuss concerns you may have about the proposals. Initially, there will be three opportunities to join us: in person at either Trowbridge or Chippenham campuses, or online. Dates and times will be published shortly and you will be able to express your preference in terms of the consultation meeting you would like to attend at the end of the survey. Wiltshire Council and Silverwood School are now starting the formal consultation process on the proposals.

They were chosen as one of the BBC Young Reporter Competition 2022’s regional winners! Recently the clip appeared on Newsround. Well done to all those in Apple Class! Please view our latest newsletter below: ![]()
On Friday the 30th of September 2022 pupils from across Silverwood School took part in the Silverwood Journey, a sponsored journey to try and accumulatively complete the distance between the 3 main campuses (60km!!!).
The pupils were involved in several different ways. Rowde campus took part in a mini tough mudder/colour run to cover the distance, some pupils from Chippenham and Trowbridge also joined in at the Rowde Campus. Pupils from Trowbridge and Chippenham campuses covered the distance by doing obstacle courses in the playgrounds and the halls. It was also great to see some parents join in with some of the early years’ classes. Some classes even covered part of the distance by walking to local parks from their campus. The pupils truly showed our Schools Values through Perseverance, Cooperation, Kindness and Courage. It was an amazing day and the pupils enjoyed taking part in something that took place across the whole of Silverwood School. Thank you to all those who helped sponsor the pupils. Currently, we have managed to raise over £600 towards the RNIB and Silverwood Charity Trust. Please view our latest newsletter below: ![]()

Welcome to the latest edition of our Special Schools Development Newsletter. Since our last update work has continued in close partnership with schools and local communities, to ensure we have sufficient special places across the county for our children and young people to access a high-quality education closer to home. Activity at the Silverwood Rowde campus in the north of the county is moving into an exciting new phase, as work begins to prepare the site for the construction of the new classroom block that will bring capacity up to 350 places in the 2023/24 academic year. Meanwhile, in the south a significant landmark has been reached with the confirmation of the former University Technical College in Salisbury as the chosen site for the new special free school (subject to planning permission), and the appointment of a lead contractor to take forward the design and redevelopment of the site. We will send these newsletters out regularly, to keep you posted on developments. We hope you find them helpful and informative and if you have any feedback about what you would like included in them, please email melissa.hardwell@wiltshire.gov.uk
